Accelerated Academic Achievement Classes:
 9:00am – 12:00pm

Monday through Friday

The goal of the morning session at 82^nd Street Academics is for students to be successful in the upcoming school year through challenging academic activities that will propel them to the head of the class! Children work with trained group leaders to practice math and language arts. Lesson plans are based on the New York State Learning Standards and the Common Core Standards. We give homework every day so students can practice their newly-learned skills. Monthly progress reports keep you up to date with your child's development. Additionally, this year we have added laptops for every student in the classroom to be used several times a week to enhance each student's learning experience through technological interactivity.  For parents, group leaders are available throughout the summer to discuss your child's learning. Students participate in inter-class academic competitions that are based on this year's summer theme, "Who Will You Be?" Students will be taking trips and special visitors will be featured on-site to complement learning. The program ends with a special ceremony starring your children!

"Learning in Action" Lab: 1:00PM – 4:00PM

In the afternoon, students build on their curiosity to connect and enhance understanding of interactive, project-based themes (which also happen to be extremely fun!).  Children reinforce their understanding of New York State Learning Standards and Common Core Standards as they participate in hands-on activities centered on our theme "Who Will You Be?" The lessons utilize the same concepts we teach in our morning classes as well as use laptops to enhance learning several times a week.  Reading, writing, logic and critical thinking skills are incorporated throughout classes in Drama, "Math 4 Life" lab, Health and Physical Education, Science, and The Arts.  Group Leaders keep topics interesting and fresh so that students stay highly motivated!

INTRODUCING: YOU! (for children born in 2010 and early 2011)
8:30AM - 4:00PM

Introducing: You! is for students to be exposed to the routine of school life and to socialize with children their own age in a fun and structured learning environment.  The program offers a gentle and playful introduction to pre-school life. Children will enjoy exploring and learning with new friends. Daily activities include circle time, read-alouds, outdoor physical recreation, choice time in centers, music and movement, small group play, learning with laptops, and arts and crafts. These activities help children develop language, cognitive and social-emotional skills, as well as control over their growing bodies. Children may attend this program 2 days, 3 days, or 5 days per week.

UPK BOUND! (for children born in 2009)
8:30AM-4:00PM

The UPK Bound! class introduces students to the essential learning concepts and components of UPK and encourages students to gain more independence and self-reliance as they transition into Pre-Kindergarten.  The program is designed for students who will be attending the Universal Pre-K program in September 2013. The curriculum of this class complements the concepts that children will be learning in the fall and includes early literacy activities, science, social studies, learning with laptops and physical education. Our teachers will use learning themes to guide the students' experiences that excite the children's interest and natural curiosity about the world around them. There is a 2 day, 3 day, or 5 day option for the full day schedule.

Our Full Day packages, "The Summer Connection" (from 8:00am – 4:00pm) and "The Summer Experience (8:00am – 6:30pm) offer a great balance of academics, physical activity, and social time with friends. Students in full day programs participate in both the morning and afternoon programs, in addition to other supplemental activities.

 Early Bird Drop-Off: 8:00am – 9:00am

Children in full day programs can come to our program early for an hour of relaxed time to spend with friends. During this time, students can play outdoors, have fun with board games, or participate in arts and crafts activities.

 Lunch and Recreation: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

We offer all students in full day programs a healthy, fresh lunch each day. Meals are well balanced and conform to federal guidelines for nutrition. Students also have the opportunity to play outdoors for half an hour at this time.

 Extended Day: 4:00pm – 6:30pm

Students enrolled in "The Summer Experience" option end the day in a relaxing, structured setting in the Extended Day class. During this time, students can complete their homework, read together, participate in arts and crafts projects, play outdoors, and enjoy other group activities until parents arrive. "The Summer Experience" option provides a great solution for busy working families, offering students a careful balance of activities throughout the day. 

Our Chess Program helps to develop spatial, cognitive thinking and
problem-solving skills embedded in an exciting, internationally played game. The program's goal is to foster healthy competition among peers that builds confidence and self-discipline.

Our Piano Program provides a space to foster burgeoning creativity. Either for the earnest beginner or for those with more piano experience, our program's goal is both to help develop a love of music and to give students a set of tangible piano/musical skills that they can take with them and use for the rest of their lives.
